Blog Challenge: Day 18

Something I crave a lot.

Oh man. I eat crap all the time. But I think I probably crave icy cold coke, and McDonald's hamburgers. Sometimes I want fruit.

Fruity Pebbles.

I really have no earthly idea how I'm ever supposed to be a real adult. Sure, there are a couple of things about me that are relatively mature, and I could fake it for a while.

I still get excited when my mom buys my sister and I fruity pebbles.
No joke. My mom is out of town, and left my sister and I 40$ so we went to the store, bought a freezer pizza (which was impressively delicious) And we bought cocoa and fruity pebbles. Are we probably going to die when she gets home? Most likely. (:

Senior All Nighter: Oh Wait. I already graduated.

I'm helping my best friend graduate from high school. Being so, I am assisting her with her creative writing packet, because I am pretty good at that kind of stuff. Seriously. I AM ON SO MUCH DAMN CAFFEINE I'M GOING TO DIE. I don't really know what she just said to me, all I know is caffeine is great, and I can sleep when I'm dead.

Day 3: My Perfect Date

Well, considering the fact that I have been absolutely spoiled in every way in the tway of dating, I'll just write about Dave. And some of the amazing dates he's taken me on.

1. Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. Whenever I feel like it, I can ask him to go to coffee with me. We're Starbucks regulars. I now have a rewards card....
2. The Zoo. This one one of the first surprise dates Dave took me on. We went to see ZooLights. And we went again recently when we were babysitting some adorable kiddos.
3. Eating. They say a best way to a man's heart is through his stomach...I can cook, but we like to eat out...to my demise...but he always takes me yummy places. And lots of Rice Wok because it's my favorite. Check them out. They deliver orders more than 15$. It's cheap and delicious. My favorite is the Sesame Chicken. Call them: 801 225 9988. Yes. I do have their number memorized.
4. Rockclimbing. He got me addicted, and now we both have passes.
5. Hikes in the canyon. We've only done this once so far, but I thought it was fun.
6. Trips up to Salt lake. City Creek, church, gateway, whatever. But we always talk the entire way up. He's so smart. And actually really wise. Granted he's four years older than I am. But he always gives me meaningful advice... (:
7. MOVIES. We love movies. Last night we saw Prometheus. HOLY SHIT. It was scary.

Basically. Anywhere I'm with Dave, is a perfect date (:

If Life Were Like Ben and Jerry's

There would be no hurt,
Just the occasional chunk of pretzels or fudge.
There would be no sadness.
Just upset tummies.
There would be no loss.
Except when your ice cream is gone.
There would be no despair.
Chocolate ice cream would fix it.
There would be joy.
Because bite after creamy bite.
The world would just seem.
Sweet.

i like to think i'm a cute girlfriend.

I bring my boyfriend's floor Avenger's popsicles, even though I know they have access to tons of popsicles, because everyone on the 7th floor. Is kind of a hero.

Bon Appetit

I've been really into Bon Appetit Magazine lately. And recently, there was a delicious recipe in the May issue that I can't wait to try!

Double Banana Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter plus more for pans, room temperature
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 cups coarsely mashed very ripe bananas (about 6 large)
  • 3/4 cup sour cream

Frosting

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 ripe but not mushy bananas, cut crosswise into 1/8-inch slices

Preparation

Cake

  • Preheat oven to 325°. Butter two 8" cake pans. Line bottoms of pans with parchment paper rounds. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat 1 1/2 cups butter and sugar in another large bowl until light and fluffy, 2–3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating to blend between additions. With mixer on low, gradually beat in flour mixture, scraping sides of bowl. Mix in bananas, then sour cream. Divide batter between pans.
  • Bake cakes until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean, 50–55 minutes. Let cool for 20 minutes in pans on wire racks.
  • Invert cakes onto wire racks; let cool completely. Remove parchment. Using a serrated knife, trim off rounded tops.

Frosting

  • Using an electric mixer, beat first 5 ingredients in a large bowl until light and fluffy, 6–7 minutes.
  • Place 1 cake on a plate. Spread 1 cup frosting over. Arrange banana slices on top. Top with second cake. Spread a thin layer of frosting over top and sides of cake; chill for 30 minutes. Spread remaining frosting over top and sides of cakes.
