Empty

She sits and waits by the window,
Praying that he'll pull through,
They were talking only yesterday,
Before her world came to a crash.

Her phone rang at 2 in the morning,
The news tearing her apart,
The monotone voice at the other end,
Leaving her without comfort.

She rushed over to see him,
Only to watch the horror unfold,
Her angel was wrapped in wires and gauze,
His hazel eyes open, but empty.

She tell's him "I love you."
She feels her tears betray her,

He slowly takes her hands,
Motions to come closer,
Whispering, "It'll all be okay."

She kisses those soft sweet lips,
Gently to not cause pain,
She looks into his loving eyes.
Empty.
Where did he go?

She listens to the doctors,
Talking outside the door,
"It's too late to save him,"
She fights her urge to scream.

She looks at her love,
Closes her eyes and prays,
The heaert moniter goes flat,
Her heart begins to race.

Now she stands at his grave.
Asking God, "Why him?"
Her heart is dead.
Her soul is cold and empty.

She looks out the window,
Thinking of him,
Again,
She looks at the picture,
Smiles, But no souls,
The picture's cold and empty.

She lays down to sleep,
Turning on her side,
She looks at his pillow,
No warmth.
No love.
Her bed feels cold and empty.

She looks up to the clouds,
Forgetting why she's living,
Her sweetheart's never coming,
Her soul is cold and empty.
